Cheesecake for breakfast.
Or lunch. Or dinner.
For each meal of the day!
I have admit that I had most of it for breakfast. The good message: This moist and sweet vegan cheesecake without added sugar is healthy enough to have it for breakfast!
It’s been a long time until I started to experiment with vegan cheesecake. This might be due to the high prices of tofutti (I did not make my own cream cheese at that time…) and because I knew it could not taste as delicious as the original. However, I didn’t know how delicious it can be… why didn’t anyone tell me? You wanted it all for yourself?
I wanted it all for myself, too… it didn’t quite work out though. I should have known…
Dwarfs are greedy. And this golden cheesecake might be perfect for him. Dwarfs like gold.
I am so lucky that he was too small to take it away. He tried though. Dwarfs are not the smartest creatures…
Golden Cheesecake – no sugar, all the fun
healthy vegan cheesecake with no added sugar, Ø about 20cm / 8 inch
- about 6 soft dates, deseeded (can increase if you want it even sweeter)
- 4 Tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 cup ( 125 ml ) orange juice or non dairy milk
- 1 very ripe banana
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 package (350g) firm (or extra firm) tofu
Put all the ingredients in your food processor for blender (use your tamper!) and mix. Test-tasting allowed: If like it sweeter, add some more dates (or even some stevia). Pour into a slightly greased pan and bake for about 30-4o min. (380 F / 200 C )
Yes, it’s that easy. Be patient (that’s the hardest part, honestly…) and let it cool down a little until you remove the pan.
On a personal note: I was really amazed by all your sweet comments and your feedback! This is still a very young blog and I didn’t expect so many people to visit it! I just want to say “Thank you” for visit my blog and for leaving your comments. Each comment makes me happy cause it means that people actually read (and maybe even like…) what I am doing!
I think he gave it up…
Very simple ingredients and looks really nice too.
Ps: Poor you dwarf, don’t worry I’ll make one and invite you over for a big o’ slice ;-)
Agreed. Cheesecake is good ANY time of day!
I really like your photos. Your lighting is great. Any chance of seeing how you light your shoots? Lighting is something I struggle with. :-(
Oh, I know that problem… There’s not so much “available light” (and space ;) ) in our small flat and I don’t have a nice spot to take photos outside, so that makes it hard.
Mostly there are two of us when taking photos. One person holds a light reflector (they have quite cheap ones on amazon, I think). That little tool makes a big improvement. We are going to get a photo soft box light tent, too, that should also help (again, amazon…)
I might do a little “how to” at the end of the month, when there’s more time. Actually, that’s a great idea!
This looks super easy. What kind of crust did you use? I used to have a recipe for a graham cracker crust, but that was in my pre-gan days. Ideas? Thanks!
I didn’t use a crust at all this time… ;) But I already made this with a very simple crust made from some crumbled, vegan cookies and melted margarine (no measurements here, sorry…)
Actually, some of the store bought graham crust are vegan! And most of the time, graham crackers are vegan, too. So you could use your old recipe with graham crackers and earth balance instead of butter (I guess butter was the only non-vegan ingredient?)
I might experiment a little more with making my own crusts soon…
I’ll have to go looking again. Every graham cracker I remember looking at has honey in it. Thanks for that. Maybe I’ll go back to the grocery store today. . .
Nabisco original grahams are widely available and vegan, for example… (no honey here…)
Awesome. Thanks!
Yay! I have never tried vegan cheesecake before because I’m hesistant towards tofu as a substitute for creamcheese… Should try it one of these days, tho, because everyone seems to love it!
I love the idea of a sugar-free cheesecake! Plus, I am such a huge fan of tofu in desserts. I can’t wait to try your recipe. What kind of crust did you use?
I didn’t use any crust at all ;) It’s firm enough even without a crust!
Any kind of graham crust would work… or a date based crust, maybe with some cocoa? That sounds really good to me…
Anyway… I was to lazy to make a crust and they don’t sell crusts in our grocery stores. (and homemade is better, anyway!)
Perfect, then I probably won’t use a crust either! :)
Not only is your cheesecake lovely, but I’m very excited by the fact that you sweetened it with dates. I’ll have to save this one for my [diabetic] Nana!
This sounds so good!!! I’m going to have to make this. I love cheesecake and never eat it because of the dairy.
This sure is a great breakfast item. Easy and good for you. Love that you did not put in added sugar.
Thanks for liking my blog. I do have a few tofu and vegans recipes that you may like.
What a lovely cheesecake it surely is! looks just stunning & appetizing too!

Wow! What a beautiful cheesecake! :) And so simple to make :) can’t wait to try this out!
Btw I really like the concept of your blog. So cute!! Looking forward to more posts from you!
Oh My God, this is so simple! I might try it very soon. I’m doing a challenge where I blog everyday in the month of August, I might blog about my experience if I make this recipe. If I do I will be sure to link your post and give you credit for what looks to be a tasty recipe. PS
Love the legos, keep ’em coming
